Tulsa, OK -- (Sports Network) - Brett McDade's game-high 22 points helped push the Tulsa Golden Hurricane to a 61-45 win over the Miami-Ohio RedHawks in first-round action of the College Basketball Invitational at the Reynolds Center. Ben Uzoh chipped in with 16 points for Tulsa (21-13), which advances to play Utah in the next round. Calvin Walls finished with 10 points and eight rebounds for the victors, while Jerome Jordan pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds. Rodney Haddix paced Miami (17-16) with 12 points off the bench, while Eric Pollitz tallied 10 points and six boards in the loss. McDade scored 18 of his 22 points in the first half, helping Tulsa grab a 33-27 halftime lead after the Golden Hurricane shot 56.5 percent from the floor. Tulsa began the second half with a 9-0 run, and quickly regained a 15-point lead that had dissipated toward the end of the first half. Miami turned to three-pointers to try and get back into the game, but the RedHawks shot just 1-of-10 from beyond the arc in the frame. The RedHawks struggled offensively throughout the game, shooting just 35.7 percent as a team.
