NCAA Game Summary - Canisius At Akron

Akron, OH -- (Sports Network) - Brett McKnight scored 12 points and the Akron Zips stopped the Canisius Golden Griffins, 56-46, in non-conference action at Rhodes Arena. Darryl Roberts was the only other player to reach double figures for Akron (1-0), finishing with 10 points. Frank Turner led the way for Canisius (0-1) with 12 points, although he also accounted for eight turnovers. Chris Gadley also got into the mix with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. The Zips shot a horrific 29.0 percent from the floor in the opening half and went into the break down, 26-22. In the second half, Akron made good on 41.4 percent of its field goal tries, as it came from behind for the 10-point win. The Zips forced a whopping 30 turnovers in the game and they were able to score 27 points off those miscues.
