Byrd Gets Contract Extension At Belmont

Nashville, TN -- (Sports Network) - Belmont University and head men's basketball coach Rick Byrd have come to terms on a five-year contract extension.Byrd, who just led Belmont to its third consecutive Atlantic Sun Championship, is one of 15 active Division-I men's basketball coaches with 500 or more career victories. He guided the Bruins to a 25-9 record this past season, and the 25 wins set a school record since it entered the NCAA. The Bruins nearly pulled off one of the greatest upsets in NCAA Tournament history last month, losing as a No. 15 seed to Duke, 71-70. The University of Tennessee graduate holds an all-time record of 541-303 and is 449-248 at Belmont.
