Sunday, November 16, 2008

(Sports Network) - Dan Werner scored 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting to lead the Florida Gators to a convincing 81-58 victory over the Bradley Braves in the 2008 O'Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic.

Nick Calathes added 13 points and seven rebounds, while Walter Hodge also had 17 points in the win for Florida (2-0), which started off its season with an 80-58 win over Toledo. Chandler Parsons had 10 rebounds to go along with four points for the 19th-ranked Gators.

Bradley kept it close early, and led by five but consecutive treys from Hodge gave Florida a one-point lead. Those shots helped spark a 19-0 run by the Gators with Hodge accounting for 14 of those points.

Calathes sank a deep three as the buzzer sounded to end the half, and the Gators entered the second up comfortably, 42-25.

The Braves got hot in the beginning of the second half, with a 13-3 run in the first 3 1/2 minutes to climb within eight.

Up by 11 later in the half, the Gators went on a 16-2 burst to jump out to a 70-49 cushion. Florida never looked back at that point and cruised to the victory.
