Buffalo, NY -- (Sports Network) - Rodney Pierce posted a career-high 26 points to lead the Buffalo Bulls to a 69-64 victory over the Canisius Golden Griffins in a non-conference showdown at the Koessler Center. Calvin Betts and Greg Gamble tallied 10 points apiece in the Buffalo (2-0) win, with Betts grabbing eight rebounds and Gamble dishing out six assists. Chris Gadley scored 20 points and hauled in 11 rebounds off the bench to lead Canisius (0-2), while Frank Turner added 16 points in the losing effort. Greg Logins netted 10 points to go with 11 rebounds for the Golden Griffins. The Golden Griffins were held to a mere 29.6 percent from the field in the first half, enabling Buffalo to take a commanding 41-24 lead into the break. The Bulls connected on just 37.5 percent of their attempts from the floor during the second stanza, but the big first half deficit proved too much for Canisius to overcome and Buffalo held on for the five-point win. The Golden Griffins shot a meager 37.5 percent from the field in the loss, including just 3-of-17 from beyond the arc.
