NCAA Game Summary - Illinois At Vanderbilt

Thursday, November 20, 2008

(Sports Network) - Demetri McCamey scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Illinois Fighting Illini to a 69-63 win over the Vanderbilt Commodores in non-conference action at Memorial Gym.

McCamey converted 5-of-10 behind the three-point line for the Illini (3-0) and added six assists for the victors. Mike Davis registered a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds before fouling out, while Trent Meacham and Mike Tisdale contributed 14 and 10 points, respectively.

The Commodores (1-1) were led by A.J. Ogilvy with 13 points and seven rebounds, followed by Jeffery Taylor and Brad Tinsley with 11 points apiece and Andre Walker with 10 points off the bench.

Illinois knocked down 42.4 percent from the field and 5-of-9 behind the three- point line in the first half to take a narrow 36-35 lead at the break.

In the second half the Illini dipped to a mere 31.3 percent from the floor, but made up for it with 5-of-10 out on the perimeter and a perfect 8-of-8 effort at the free-throw line en route to the six-point triumph.

Vandy outscored Illinois in the paint (32-18) and also picked up 28 points from reserves, but shooting a mere 4-of-15 beyond the arc and 13-of-21 at the free-throw line hurt the home team.
