NCAA Game Summary - Iowa At The Citadel

Thursday, November 20, 2008

(Sports Network) - Anthony Tucker knocked down 7-of-11 from three-point range to come up with 21 points and lead the Iowa Hawkeyes to a 70-48 win over the Bulldogs of The Citadel in non-conference action at McAlister Field House.

Also scoring in double figures for the Hawkeyes (3-0) were Matt Gatens and Jeff Peterson with 13 and 12 points, respectively, the former also handing out six assists and recording four steals.

The Bulldogs (1-2) were paced by Cameron Wells and his 21-point effort on 8- of-13 shooting from the floor. Demetrius Nelson tacked on 11 points and Daniel Eykyn eight points, while no one else on the roster came up with more than three points on the night.

Both teams shot about 42 percent from the field in the first half, but in the case of the Bulldogs they converted only 1-of-7 beyond the arc, allowing Iowa to claim a 32-20 edge at the break.

In the second half the Hawkeyes hit on 6-of-10 behind the three-point line to make up for a 6-of-11 effort at the free-throw line, resulting in the 22-point decision.

In addition to shooting only 4-of-17 out on the perimeter, The Citadel also turned the ball over 13 times, compared to just six miscues for the visitors.
