Anthony Smith ended with 13 points for the Flames, who began their season on Friday with a win over Montreat. A nine-point burst, punctuated by a Jackson layup, gave UNCA a 24-10 edge with just under nine minutes left in the first half. The Bulldogs kept the pressure on and led 39-19 after a Smith three with about five minutes remaining, and took a 49-30 advantage into halftime. Just short of the midway point of the second half, a Primm triple put UNCA up 67-40, and the Bulldogs cruised to the finish from there.
