DAYTON, Ohio -- A jury in Dayton has found China Arnold guilty of killing her baby by burning her in a microwave oven. The verdict came down around 2 p.m. in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.
Danielle Elias ReportsThis was Arnold's second trial, because a mistrial was declared back in February when a new witness came forward. That star witness for the defense was an 8-year-old boy who claimed he watched another child put one-month-old Paris Talley, in the microwave oven.Prosecutors said Arnold killed her baby after fighting with her boyfriend about whether he was the biological father.Arnold could face the death penalty now that she has been convicted. When the verdict was read, Arnold showed no reaction and then lowered her head, looking down at the defense table.Relatives in the courtroom cried and covered their faces with their hands.
