Opera Guild of Dayton's

Dayton Masonic Center will become the finest restaurant in Dayton on Saturday, March 13th (6 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.), when Opera Guild of Dayton hosts The Masterpiece Ball: An Evening with the Great Chefs.

The area's most celebrated and award winning chefs will prepare a spectacular five course dinner with sommelier-selected wines. The evening also includes dancing to the Marygolds Band; The Balcony Casino; Après, a tented venue offering fine single malt scotches, liqueurs and cigars; a Gold Key Raffle and both silent and live auctions.

December 18, 2009 to December 18, 2010 at the National Afro-American Museum.

The Journey of Hope in America: Quilts Inspired by President Barack Obama commemorates an historic milestone in American history-the election of an African American man as president. This show opens December 18th at the National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center in Wilberforce, Ohio. When the exhibit closes, it will tour the country.

Admission: $4 for adults, $1.50 for children 6-10 & college students with ID; free to Ohio Historical Society members and children ages 5 and under.

Town Hall Lecture Series

Lectures will take place at the Schuster Center. Doors will open at 9 a.m. and the lectures begin at 10 a.m.

This year's Dayton Philharmonic Volunteers Association Show House and Gardens is themed, "10 Days of Design" and will be held June 18th through June 27th from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The historic Show House is located at 201 E. Schantz Avenue in the Schantz Park Historic District of Oakwood.

7th Annual "AWear Affair"

"The Age of Aquarius" will be the theme at this year's luncheon and fashion show to benefit cancer survivors! Saturday, February 27th - Sinclair Conference Center (Bldg 12, 444 West Third Street), doors open at 10:30 a.m. which will provide time for visitng and shopping with various vendors. Proceeds of this event will benefit The Noble Circle Project for women thriving beyond cancer.

Cancer survivors who have participated in The Noble Circle Project will model fashions from Get Dressed! in Oakwood, The Secret Ingredient, Inc. in Kettering, and Joli Boutique in Centerville.

Price: $50 per individual or table of 10 for $600.

The Noble Circle Project spring program will kick off with a weekend retreat March 19-21 followed by 10 weeks of Thursday evening classes which will be held at One Lincoln Park in Kettering. Enrollment is limited.

Dustin Madden is a resident of Dayton and born with Cystic Fibrosis. He is a 25 year old who is in need of a double lung transplant to have a second chance to live life to the fullest. Transplants are very expensive and even with health insurance there are considerable non-reimbursable costs. A fundraising campaign has been established to help Dustin with the costs. By donating your old cell phone to Artemis Center, you can save a life. As a way to assert control, abusers often deny cell phone access to their partners. With the help of Verizon’s HopeLine program, victims of domestic violence receive refurbished cell phones to be used as 911 emergency phones. These phones are critical to the safety of Artemis Center’s clients. Used cell phones can be dropped off at Artemis Center Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
