Explore...Create...Stay out Late! - July 3, 2009

Downtown Dayton will be the place to be during the First Friday Celebrations!

Held once per month on the first Friday of the month (5 p.m. to 10 p.m.), there will be art, entertainment and activities!

First Friday attendees can also get around for free on Greater Dayton RTA's Wright Flyer! First Friday RTA stops are located throughout downtown and will be marked with special signs.

Unified Health Solutions Cafe' Boulevard Dinners

Cafe' Boulevard will make a donation to Unified Health Solutions (UHS) for every dinner and appetizer sold on the second Friday of each month.
In addition, Cafe' Boulevard is hosting Lunch with Style, a complimentary lunch to give UHS families a chance to spend quality time together while enjoying a stylish leisure lunch.
UHS will be celebrating their 43rd Anniversary this year and serves nearly 6,000 children and families each year.

Dates: June 12, 2009 - July 10, 2009 - August 14, 2009
Time: 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Two international Pontiac clubs are coming together for the first time to present this co-vention July 7 through 11, 2009 at the Nutter Center! There will be Pontiacs from all over the world! There will be on-site and off-site attractions, GTO's from 1964 to 1972 and 2004-2006, The Pontiac Oakland Club International representing all Pontiacs from 1909 to the newest models and much much more!!

HELP CULTURE WORKS WITH THEIR ANNUAL CAMPAIGN... Culture Works was established in 1961 as the Miami Valley Arts Council and in 1993 merged with ARTSDAYTON. The successful tradition of ARTSDAYTON fundraising and the legacy of MVAC of nurturing new and emerging arts groups and individual artists, was united to form a new regional organization and continued to function as the Miami Valley Cultural Alliance until October, 1994 when it was renamed Culture Works.
Mission Statement: Culture Works provides funds and services to strengthen the arts and culture in the Miami Valley.
The fundraising campaign is February 1 to June 30th. This year's goal has been set at $1.70 million - a zero increase from last year.

For over 25 years, the Alzheimer’s Association, Miami Valley Chapter, has provided support services to local individuals and caregivers affected by Alzheimer’s disease. Research is ongoing and donations are needed to help with researching a cure. Pull for the Kids - Tractor Pull
The Greene County Combined Health District is hosting this event at the Greene County Fairgrounds in Xenia on July 4, 2009.

Admission is $5 for adults; Children 10 and under are FREE!

Antique Tractor Pull weigh in at 9 a.m., pull begins at 10 a.m. - tractors through 1960 Division 2 and 3 Rules. - $10 entry fee per class.
Run What Ya Brung entry fee $20

Class 1 - 0-35 pounds
Class 2 - 36-50 pounds

The Fisher Nightingale House Fundraiser

Tickets are on Sale now through July 4, 2009 when the drawing will take place during the Americana Festival in Centerville

Sponsored by Custom Connections Home Audio & Video and All*Sports Barbers - tickets are $5 each.

During the Americana Festival, the parking lot of All*Sports Barbers will have music, military activities, area military servicemen and women, food and refreshments for sale, and a lot of exciting activities for the while family to enjoy. All food and refreshment sales and ticket proceeds will be donated to The Fisher Nightingale House to help with its operating needs.

GRAND PRIZE will be a 37" ultra thin LED HD TV with basic installation and 5 year parts and labor

The Fisher Nightingale House provides an opportunity for military families to stay together and support each other while a loved one is undergoing medical treatment. The house provides emotional and physical support to our servicemen and servicewomen.

19th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act

July 24, 2009 at Courthouse Square 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Hosted by the Access Center, this event will be held at Courthouse Square at the corner of Third and Main Street in Downtown Dayton.
Event will include:
  • Proclamation by Mayor Rhine McLin
  • "Spirit of ADA" Award Presentation
  • 2009 Partnership Award
  • Wheelchair relay races (participants need not be disabled)
  • Raffle drawings
  • Photo Contest

A Sign Language Interpreter will be available at this event.

Dayton Dunbar Wolverines Pee Wee Football & Cheerleading

This organization is looking for boys and girls ages 5 to 14 to participate in the yougt athletics and scholarship program.
They are also looking for coaches or anyone interested in helping out to mold and mentor young minds.
Mission Statement:
Dayton Dunbar Wolverines Pee Wee Football is a not-for-profit association created to facilitate and coordinate the Recreation Athletic Football and Cheerleading Programs, in the Dayton Ohio Community, for girls and boys.
The goal of the Dayton Dunbar Wolverines are to:
  • encourage participation in recreational sports programs regardless of skill level
  • ensure our children have a fun experience
  • provide the opportunity to learn and improve skills
  • teach sportsmanship by good example
  • develop an appreciation of teamwork
  • promote respect of teammates, coaches, opponents, and game officials
  • encourage participation of parents in the coaching and coordination of the various programs

The American Cancer Society's "Look Good, Feel Better" program helps restore women's appearance and self-esteem.

By donating your old cell phone to Artemis Center, you can save a life. As a way to assert control, abusers often deny cell phone access to their partners. With the help of Verizon’s HopeLine program, victims of domestic violence receive refurbished cell phones to be used as 911 emergency phones. These phones are critical to the safety of Artemis Center’s clients. Used cell phones can be dropped off at Artemis Center Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
