MILEY CYRUS CONTROVERSY

Hefner Invites Cyrus To Pose For Playboy

Singer, 15, Would Have To Wait 3 Years

Give her three more years and Hugh Hefner said Miley Cyrus will be ready for Playboy.

Hefner told the television show "Extra" that Cyrus "would be welcomed" at the magazine if she ever wanted to pose, calling the 15-year-old singer a "very pretty lady."

Responding to Cyrus' recent Vanity Fair controversy, Hefner said that he thinks her photos in the magazine were "innocent."

"I think to make such a big to do over something as innocent as those photos, I think is a reflection on how schizophrenic America is about sexuality," Hefner told "Extra."

Cyrus caused a flap last month when a photo of her bare-backed and wrapped in a blanket appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair.

The Disney Channel "Hannah Montana" star issued an apology just as the photos -- snapped by famed celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz -- started to hit.

"I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed," Cyrus said in a statement through her publicist. "I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologize to my fans who I care so deeply about."

The Disney Channel also immediately issued a statement, critical of Vanity Fair for running the photo spread.

"Unfortunately, as the article suggests, a situation was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines," a network statement said.
