New Madison Community Tri-Village School Fair
Celebrating 75th Anniversary

Date: October 3-4, 2008
There will be craft and vendor booths in the elementary gym, pumpkin decorating contest, a cutest patriot contest for babies up to 2 years old, homemade food provided by Cedar Grove church with a variety of tasty meal options, breakfast Saturday morning, desserts, a Little Miss & Mr. Patriot contest at the high school gym at 6 p.m. and much more!

Heritage of Flight Festival in New Carlisle
This year all events will take place downtown in the Main Street area.

Dates: Oct. 3-5, 2008
Description: includes a cruise in, a kiddy tractor pull, rides, food and performances and attracts thousands of festival-goers from around the state. The Heritage of Flight Festival transforms New Carlisle’s downtown into a flurry of activity and features a Parade of Planes, during which people line the streets to watch aircraft and other parade participants travel through the Main Street midway.

Description: Nearly 70 artists will participate, including jewelers, potters, sculptors, photographers and more. A diverse variety of entertainment will be on hand including the Sauerkraut German Band, featured exhibit Canstruction, Beatles tribute band Ticket to Ride, and Saturday night’s headliners The Hathaways.

Ohio Renaissance Festival

Fort Rowdy Gathering

Description: Hovering lights of campfires, frontier enthusiasts gather in groups to play guitars, drums and washboards -- much like people of the small trading villages of the 1800s. Named in honor of General "Mad Anthony" Wayne, who founded a piece of land that would one day become Covington. Daily entertainment on stage, food and crafts also available.

42nd Annual Northridge Community Parade/Flea Market & Car Show

Date: October 5, 2008
Time: Cruisin' to the Ridge Car Show 9 a.m.; Flea Market 11 a.m.; Parade at 2 p.m.
The parade begins at Arthur Avenue proceeds south onto North Dixie Drive then left onto Timber Lane and ends in the high school parking lot. Need entry form – contact Margie Lairson at 937-277-7488 for form.

Urbana Fall Festival @ Maple Lane

Description: A young country singer who was a finalist on NBC’s Nashville Star and an “extreme” pumpkin carver who has shared his power-tool-driven craft in books and on national television are among a wide variety of entertainers and artisans to be showcased at an October 10-12 fall festival in Urbana.

The Nashville Star finalist, Laura Fedor, from Willoughby, Ohio, will perform Saturday, October 11 at 1:30, 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. at the Fall Festival at Maple Lane.

The festival, hosted from noon to 7 p.m. each day by Maple Lane Trees and Garden Terrace, 3484 E. State Route 29, Urbana, will include other musical entertainment, including the Main Street Jazz and Dixieland Band and the Hyperactive Ohio State University Alumni Band. Also planned are fall games, hayrides, a hay maze, tethered hot air balloon rides, food, make and take workshops, displays and demonstrations by artisans, and the Deal of a Lifetime Tree and Art Auction.

Autumn-related demonstrations and workshops will include “extreme” pumpkin carver Tom Nardone, who has appeared on Good Morning America, Live with Kelly and Regis, MTV and the Travel Channel.

Half-price admission tickets—$2, or $1.50 for senior citizens—may be purchased in advance through October 9 by calling Maple Lane Trees and Garden Terrace at 937-484-7222. Children 5 and under will be admitted free. The admission price includes the concerts, demonstrations, hayrides and the hay maze.

.“We’ve brought together into one festival a farmers’ market array of fun activities and entertainment that will please a broad audience—from children to grandparents,” said Tim Weller, president of Maple Lane Trees and Garden Terrace. “With the help of our sponsors we’ve held down the admission price to provide families very affordable, quality entertainment—a great way to celebrate the season.”

Major sponsors of the Fall Festival at Maple Lane include Kiss Country 101.7 FM, Dave Kehl Chevrolet, Columbia Gas of Ohio and the Jim Twiggs Allstate Insurance Agency.

The Deal of a Lifetime Tree and Art Auction, at 4:15 p.m. Sunday, October 12, will offer an opportunity to purchase a wide variety of quality trees grown at Maple Lane at a fraction of retail price. Most of the 300 trees in the auction will be larger than those normally available at retail garden centers and tree nurseries. The auction also will feature works of art by the festival’s artisans, in addition to fountains and stone statuary from Maple Lane Trees and Garden Terrace.


21st Annual Rising Sun Navy Bean Fall Festival
Riverfront Park, Downtown Rising Sun, Indiana

Delicious Navy Bean Soup, rides, games, family fun, and live musical entertainment including the nationally known Kentucky Headhunters and Little Texas are all on the menu. The Navy Bean Festival is a fall tradition in Rising Sun, bringing families to enjoy Hoosier hospitality, free entertainment and the scenic fall setting on the banks of the beautiful Ohio River. There are no admission or parking fees to enter the festival and the entertainment options include a magic show, face painting, a balloon artist, rides, musical acts, food and crafts.
Rides, craft and food booths will be open 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 10th & 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Oct 11. Soup will be served at 5:00 p.m. until close Friday and 12 p.m. until it runs out on Saturday.

Gourds & Ghouls Festival

Have a scary good time at the Gourds & Ghouls Festival, a free family-friendly event that features all the makings of a ghoulish celebration: hay rides, great music and food, pumpkin caring, a mammoth pumpkin, Swamp Thing and the Trolls, spooky stories and even a pumpkin catapult competition.
Visitors can get in the competitive spirit by entering the pumpkin carving competition beginning at 11 a.m. Prizes will be awarded in three categories to the person with the most creative carving. If airborne pumpkins are more enticing to you, check out the pumpkin catapult contest at 1 p.m. Groups and individuals from around the Miami Valley compete to see whose homemade contraption will send their pumpkins soaring over the gardens. Ohio Sauerkraut Festival

Vendors hailing from over twenty states, including Hawaii, will line the historic village's streets with nearly 500 craft booths. Continuous live entertainment will be offered throughout the weekend.
The annual scholarship contest winners will be announced Saturday afternoon with the awards going to outstanding Waynesville Area High School Seniors. "The Best Cabbage Contest" will also be held Saturday afternoon.
On Sunday there will be a live auction held at the entertainment stage and bid on one-of-a-kind items, including premium gift baskets from around the tri-state and specialty items from around the state.
