Historic Downtown Lebanon, Inc. is hosting "A Dickens Christmas" November 23 & 24 commemorating the 170th anniversary of Author Charles Dickens "sobering" visit to Lebanon, OH. Denied a brandy by the owner of the Lebanon stagecoach stop in 1842, the downtown merchants and the City of Lebanon will attempt to correct history by offering 2 fun filled days of Victorian themed events culminating Saturday afternoon with "A Toast to Dickens" Pub Crawl led by a local historian as "Charles Dickens" along with various characters from Dickens book "A Christmas Carol". The annual Christmas tree lighting will be Friday, November 23 at 6:30pm downtown accompanied by the Lebanon Symphony "Dickens Carolers". Stores and exhibits will be open noon to 8:00pm both days. Complimentary horse drawn carriage rides, a 2,000 square foot model train display, free gift wrap station, a Victorian tea, downtown merchant open house specials and Dickens trivia abound for holiday shoppers over the 2 day event. Start your Christmas season with wonderful shopping, lunch, dinner and drink themed specials, surrounded by great history, architecture and gracious customer service.
