Are you interested in learning about beekeeping but not sure where to start? Have you tried beekeeping before but given up from frustration or failure? Most beekeepers share that the secret to success includes training, strong healthy bees and support from experienced beekeepers. WCOBA is a not-for-profit association of beekeepers helping beekeepers throughout west central Ohio. Our Beginning Beekeeping School is a full day introductory course teaching the art and science of beekeeping. Learn basic honey bee biology, equipment and tools required, how to acquire bees, fundamental management techniques using the latest (2012) best practices and how to get a honey bee colony through your first full year of beekeeping. The WCOBA team of instructors includes three beekeepers with experience managing hundreds of colonies and newer beekeepers that have recently started after taking our Beginning Beekeeper School. This unique team combines the expertise for success with the perspective of the new beekeeper. Fees are $50 for individual, $65 for couple and include a copy of "Bee-sentials" used as the course textbook. Lunch is provided. $50 for individual, $65 for couple.
