\tWhy such a funny name for a tournament?!? Well, Lou and Shorty have been involved with ASA softball for over 50 years in the central Ohio area. They are the two responsible for the large development of girls' fastpitch softball in the region. This tournament is just a small way of thanking two individuals who have tirelessly given their time and effort to present these opportunities. We invite you to participate in the tournament and say hello and thank you to both of them. This tournament is going to consist of all teams playing 4 pool games and then entering a single elimination tournament based on how they did in pool play. The top half of each pool will go into a Platinum Single Elimination Bracket. The lower half will go into a separate Gold Single Elimination Bracket. The brackets will not play each other. This means even the bottom half of the pool has a chance for a championship. And to make it different and more enjoyable for the girls, we are offering it in 2 formats for pool play. Situational Format - This format allows teams early in the season to defensively experience situations that might occur in a game later in the season. This allows each player and team to learn how to properly handle that particular situation in a tournament setting with less pressure than may be faced later in the season. In this format, each inning - of pool play only - will start as follows: 1st Inning - Runner on 1st 2nd Inning - Runner on 2nd 3rd Inning - Runner on 3rd 4th Inning - Runners on 1st & 2nd 5th Inning - Runners on 1st & 3rd 6th Inning - Runners on 2nd & 3rd 7th Inning - Bases Loaded The runner(s) will be the last out(s) from the previous inning. The 1st Inning runner will be the last person in your batting order. Standard Format - The standard game format is used. THE CHOICE OF FORMAT WILL BE MADE BY BOTH COACHES BEFORE THE POOL PLAY GAME AT THE UMPIRE'S MEETING. IF EITHER COACH DOES NOT WANT TO PLAY WITH THE SITUATIONAL FORMAT, THE POOL PLAY GAME WILL USE THE STANDARD FORMAT. THE CHOSEN FORMAT WILL BE USED THE ENTIRE GAME. As in all Fastpitch Showdown Tournaments, pool play games will be 90 minutes long. Also, the coach can bat up to all of his/her players if he/she chooses and there is free substitution in the field with anybody on your roster. 425
