Karlsson Climbs To Eighth In World Rankings

Monday, October 6, 2008

(Sports Network) - Robert Karlsson's win on Sunday at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship helped him jump into the top 10 in this week's Official World Golf Rankings.

Karlsson moved 10 places to a career-best ranking of No. 8. The top seven remained the same, but there was plenty of movement in the rankings thanks to Karlsson's jump.

Tiger Woods is still No. 1 and was again followed by Phil Mickelson, Vijay Singh, Padraig Harrington, Sergio Garcia, Anthony Kim and Camilo Villegas.

Karlsson moved into the eighth slot, bumping Ernie Els, Henrik Stenson and Jim Furyk down one spot apiece. Lee Westwood held steady at No. 12.

Steve Stricker slid two to 13th, while Stewart Cink and Justin Rose were down one notch each to 14 and 15.

K.J. Choi remained in the 16th position and was trailed by Adam Scott, who was down two, and Geoff Ogilvy, who dipped one. Kenny Perry and Miguel Angel Jimenez exchanged spots from last week with Perry up to 19th this week.

Dustin Johnson won on the PGA Tour and soared 202 places to No. 155 in the latest rankings.
