Northmont Middle School has taken on the color pink. The organizational skills of eighth grade Team Kennedy and intervention specialist Debi Tamplin, a three-year breast cancer survivor, have helped make October the color pink, not only raising breast cancer awareness but also raising money to benefit the American Cancer Society and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. There are two spotlight events. The first was held on Oct. 21 as Extreme Pink Day when students and staff will dress in pink and assemble for a group picture. This year they will spell out the word PINK. The second event is the judging of the door-decorating contest on Monday, October 26.Students have been using their creative talents to depict a meaningful awareness about a cure for breast cancer.
