Darke Co. Offers H1N1 Vaccine

A local health department opened its doors to the public for the Miami Valley's first H1N1 flu vaccine clinic.

People started lining up hours before the clinic opened Thursday morning at the Darke County Health Department. The clinic opened its doors at 8 a.m. and has been packed ever since.

The vaccine is being offered to people who are considered most at risk including pregnant women, health care providers, children and parents of infants.

The first round of vaccinations were completed at 12 noon. However, the clinic will reopen at 3 p.m. and stay open until 7 p.m.

At this time, officials said they have 1,500 doses and will give them out until they are gone.

Darke County Health Commissioner Dr. Terry Holman, said, "Be patient."

People from all over the Miami Valley came to the Darke County clinic to get the vaccine.

Several students from Wright State University came to get their shots because they are concerned about the spread of the virus on campus.

The clinic is located at 635 Wagner Avenue in Greenville. The shot clinic will be open until 7 p.m on Thursday or until the vaccines are all gone.
