WASHINGTON -- Senators on Capitol Hill are working on a plan that would guarantee paid time off for people with the H1N1 virus. The CDC told lawmakers that one person who is sick with the virus will infect 10 percent of coworkers. This is a big reason why lawmakers want to give people incentives to stay home. The problem is that millions of people, especially low wage workers, don’t get sick pay and many will come to work so they can get paid or because they fear they willl get fired. There is a similar plan in the House. Both of them would give five paid sick days to someone who is sent home with the H1N1 virus. The House holds a hearing on the issue next week.
