UD Offers Students H1N1 Vaccine

Posted: 1:10 pm EST November 17, 2009

There are two opportunities this week for students at the University of Dayton to receive the H1N1 flu vaccine.

The first is on Nov. 18 at the RecPlex’s MAC gym from 4-6 p.m. This clinic will be for students who are 24 years old and younger.

The second clinic is scheduled for Nov. 19 at UD Arena and is open to all targeted groups, which consist of pregnant women, persons who live with or provide care for infants under 6 months old, health care and emergency medical services personnel, persons 6 months old through 24 years old and people from 25 to 64 years old who have chronic medical conditions such as lung or heart disease, diabetes or other immuno-compromised conditions that put them at a higher risk of influenza-related complications.

Both clinics are free and available while supplies last.

University of Dayton students who wish to receive the vaccine must bring their student IDs and wear clothing that allows the upper arm to be easily exposed. Those without a student ID will not be permitted to receive the vaccine. Students who receive the vaccine must complete a registration form.

The University expects to receive another supply of vaccines soon and will schedule another clinic for students after Thanksgiving.

Anyone wanting an H1N1 shot Thursday at the University of Dayton Arena must complete a consent form. Long lines are expected.
