Clark County Distributes 8,000 Flu Vaccines

Posted: 5:45 am EDT October 29, 2004

The Clark County Combined Health District will be giving out all 8,000 flu vaccines in one day. Beginning at 7 a.m. Friday morning and continuing until 7 p.m., health officials will be distributing the flu vaccine at the Clark County Fairgrounds in Springfield.

The vaccine will be given to those who are considered high-risk. That includes people 65 years old and older, children 6 months to 24 months old and to those with chronic health problems.

The line started forming around 4 a.m. and the health district expects to distribute all 8,000 doses today. Health officials decided to give the flu vaccines out in one day to help aid in the public’s health, but also to test the county’s emergency response plan.

Officials said all 75 health district employees will be on hand to help distribute the flu vaccine, but there will also be around 300 to 400 volunteers who will help with the screening process and traffic.
