Mets' Perez Offered Arbitration

Tuesday, December 2, 2008

(Sports Network) - New York Mets pitcher Oliver Perez was offered salary arbitration prior to the midnight (et) deadline Monday night.

The 27-year-old left-hander has until the conclusion of Sunday to accept the arbitration offer. If Perez signs with another team, the Mets will receive two compensatory draft picks.

Perez went 10-7 with a 4.22 ERA in 34 starts this season.

The Mets also didn't offer arbitration to any of their other players who filed for free agency: Pedro Martinez, Luis Ayala, Damion Easley, Moises Alou, Orlando Hernandez, Tony Armas Jr., Ramon Martinez, Trot Nixon, Ricardo Rincon and Matt Wise.
