Posted: 10:38 pm EDT June 23, 2009Updated: 8:31 am EDT June 24, 2009

The school board voted Tuesday night to lay off 13 employees after the failure of four consecutives operating levies.

The school board met at Springboro High School at 7 p.m.

The board will lay off 11 bus drivers, one accounts clerk and an assistant cook.

"I feel sorry for the people who are getting laid off. Its really bad because we do need these people badly," said Connie Ross from Springboro.

Already this year the district has cut 19 workers and the hiring of new teachers have been put on hold.

Teacher and administrative salaries are frozen as a result of money issues.

The board is expected to decide in July on how and when to ask voter to approve more taxes.
