Over 2,000 Attend Dayton Region Rally

Dayton city and business leaders gathered Tuesday at the University of Dayton to talk about efforts being made to boost the local economy.

More than 2,000 people attended the Dayton Region Rally.

The goal was to let local residents and business owners hear what community leaders have planned to help our community.

Bruce Langos, the Chief Operations Officer of Teradata and a board member of the Dayton Development Coalition, said people have heard all about how the local economy is suffering but very little about efforts to make improvements.

“We felt it was important that all of us get together and get a rally together so that Dayton people understood what actually is going on and what people are working on to make this an even better place to work and play,” Langos said.

There were a number of speakers including Kellen Winslow, NFL Hall of Famer and Athletic Director at Central State University, and Joe Sciabica, Executive Director of the Air Force Research Laboratory.

Langos said, "“We are not going to bring back those manufacturing jobs by any sense of the word but we are going to try to reinvent ourselves into something that is meaningful to the community that provides additional jobs especially in high tech sectors."

Cox Media sponsored the Dayton Region RALLY to help kick start our future.
