Gov. Taft Wants To Use Tax Money For Island Purchase

POSTED: 7:15 am EST December 11, 2003

Ohio Gov. Bob Taft wants to spend your tax dollars to buy an island on Lake Erie.

The state and federal tax money would make North Bass Island a state park. There's already Ohio-owned parks at Put-in Bay and Middle Bass Island.

Now, the state is buying more than 500 acres on North Bass Island, for nearly 17.5 million dollars.
