Dozens of bullets were exchanged on a residential street in Springfield.

The shooting happened around 3:30 a.m. Sunday in the 100 block of W. Southern Avenue in Springfield.

Investigators said it stemmed from an altercation between two groups of men at a nightclub earlier in the night.

A 21-year-old Springfield man was killed after being shot multiple times. Detectives said his friends tried to protect him by shooting back but they said no one is being very cooperative.
