Football Standout, Coach, Legend Inducted Into Troy Hall Of Fame

The late Randolph J. "Randy" Walker, remembered as a football player and coach, was one of three people inducted Sunday afternoon into the Troy Hall of Fame.

Walker died unexpectedly in 2006 at the age of 52, shocking the communities of Troy, Oxford and Evanston.

Walker was a star running back on the undefeated Troy High School football teams of the early 1970s and went on to Miami University as a running back on the teams that lost just one game in three years.

After college, Walker was an assistant football coach at Miami University of Ohio, North Carolina, and Northwestern before becoming Miami's head coach in 1990. He was the winningest coach in Miami University history.

In 1999, Walker took over as head coach at Northwestern, leading the team to a share of the Big Ten title in 2000 and numerous bowl appearances.

The other inductees included Julia DeCamp Hobart, honored for her love for children and for the arts.

Also inducted was Max Franklin Urick, known for his athletic achievements in football, lacrosse and wrestling championships.
