Sugarcreek Twp. Man Gets Prison Time For Illegal Gambling

SUGARCREEK TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A Sugarcreek Township man who operated an illegal gambling ring has been sentenced to 20 months in prison.Robert Roth, 69, was sentenced Friday in federal court. Prosecutors said Roth ran a gambling ring that pulled in more than $26 million over the last 30 years.The case against Roth stemmed from raids dating back to 2003.Roth pleaded guilty in October to gambling and money laundering. According to court documents, Roth ran a secret casino at his son’s Beavercreek home.
