Greenville Man Killed In I-70 Construction Zone

BUTLER TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Officials in Butler Township said a construction worker was killed on Interstate 70 Monday morning.The coroner’s office in Montgomery County has identified the worker as Shawn Stebbins, 31, of Greenville. Investigators said Stebbins was working in a construction zone.The accident happened around 9 a.m. east of Interstate 75 in the large construction zone near the I-70/I-75 interchange.Officials said Stebbins worked as a subcontractor for Barrett Paving and was run over by an asphalt truck that backed over him.The Ohio State Patrol said the dump truck, which was backing up to deliver asphalt to the paving equipment, was driven by David E. Wolfe, 40, of Greenville.The accident is being investigated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Ohio Department of Transportation.Investigators said, at this time, no charges are pending.
