Police said allegations have surfaced against a Northmont Middle School teacher who is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old student.

Jason Simmons, 36, was arrested Monday night and is awaiting formal charges in the Montgomery County Jail.

Simmons has been a special education teacher at the middle school for the last three years. He is also a defensive live coach for the varsity football team at the high school.

At this time, Simmons is on administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation.

Simmons is accused of having sex with a 14-year-old student on three separate occasions. The charges against Simmons could range from sexual battery to unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

Police in Clayton said they believe that Simmons had sex with the girl on three separate occasions possibly since early May.

The allegations surfaced earlier this month after a family member of the alleged victim contacted police.

Northmont superintendent Dr. Gale Mabry said, “Quite frankly surprised and shocked that this happened.”

Mabry said Simmons worked with special needs children.

According to Mabry, Simmons may have been in a language arts class with the student. He said he did not believe that Simmons was the student’s teacher.

Simmons played football for Ohio State University in the early 90s and in the NFL in Europe. He lives in Huber Heights.
