Northmont Teacher Gets $500,000 Bond In Sex Case

Investigators said bond was set at $500,000 for a Northmont Middle School teacher who is accused of having sex with a 14-year-old student.

Jason Simmons, 36, was arraigned Wednesday morning from the Montgomery County Jail. His attorney asked the judge for a lower bond, but the request was denied.

Simmons pleaded not guilty to charges of sexual battery, unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and importuning.

Simmons is a special-education teacher at the middle school. District officials said they do not believe that the alleged victim was one of Simmons’ students.

Clayton police said the allegations surfaced earlier this month.

Simmons is also a defensive line coach for the Northmont High School football team and previously coached at Fairborn High School.

According to his online biography, Simmons played football at Ohio State University and NFL Europe.

At this time, Simmons is on administrative leave from his job.
