Camera Catches War Plane's Highway Landing

FOND DU LAC, Wis. -- A World War II-era plane made an emergency landing Sunday night on U.S. Highway 41 near the Fond du Lac County airport, reported WISN-TV in Milwaukee, Wis.The pilot of the 1946 North American T-6G plane was forced to land just before 8 p.m.The Wisconsin State Patrol said the pilot was flying with his son to the EAA AirVenture air show in Oshkosh when engine problems forced them to land on the highway.Traffic in both directions was forced to stop as authorities worked to move the plane from the highway, but vehicles were eventually able to pass on the shoulder..The pilot and son were uninjured, but the plane suffered damage after it hit several highway signs.Gregg Dorff, of Brookfield, Wis., who was traveling through the area with his family and saw the plane on the highway, said he noticed a large dent on the right wing of the plane.A state trooper's emergency vehicle also caught the incident on its dash camera.
