A Northmont Middle School teacher accused of having sex with a 14-year-old student has been released on home detention.

Jason Simmons, 36, pleaded not guilty last week to charges of sexual battery , unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and importuning.

Clayton police said the allegations surfaced earlier this month.

Simmons is currently on administrative leave from his job.
