Fire Damages Industrial Building In Darke County

DARKE COUNTY, Ohio -- A wood-burning stove inside a large metal industrial building is believed to be the cause of a fire Sunday afternoon on the property of Jeff Lawson at 6116 Grubbs-Rex Road in rural Darke County southwest of Arcanum.Smoke coming from the building was reported to the owner by a passing motorist around noontime.Due to the weather and road conditions, Arcanum firefighters called for extra mutual aid as the alarm was sounded as a "fully engulfed barn fire" by Darke County 911."I called in a second alarm while en route to the fire," said Assistant Arcanum Fire Chief Kurt Troutwine, "to make sure we had plenty of manpower."The fire was quickly extinguished resulting in $5,000 to $8,000 in damages.There were no injuries.Steve.Baker@WHIOTV.com
