Pit Bull Bites Postal Worker

Posted: 6:36 pm EST January 7, 2008Updated: 8:54 am EST January 8, 2008

A female postal worker was delivering mail on Monday afternoon, when a pit bull charged through the front door of its house on the 600 block of Pritz Avenue in Dayton.

The dog bit the mail carrier on the leg, according to Montgomery County Animal Control.

The owner of the dog was across the street at the time. He and a neighbor helped remove the dog from the area.

The mail carrier was taken to the hospital for treatment. A supervisor for the Beavercreek Post Office says the mail carrier was shaken, but OK health wise.

The dog is licensed and now on quarantine for 10 days, with further analysis from the Department of Health after that timeframe.

The owner says this is the second time the pit bull has attacked a person. He said he is considering putting him down.
