Springfield School Officials Investigating Reports That Assistant Principal Penned Erotic Poetry

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- A Springfield school administrator is in hot water as school officials investigate racy poetry he allegedly authored.Mattie White, director of school services for Springfield City Schools, said the issue came to light when a parent complained.Karl Perkins, an assistant principal at South High School in Springfield, remains on administrative leave as the investigation into this incident continues.Perkins allegedly authored the poetry under a pen name, “Antonio Love.” A Web site by that name has been stripped of its content. News Center Seven did uncover several other works, including a “provocative, poetic anthology” for sale that lists “Love” as the author and a Karl Perkins as the publisher. A student reportedly downloaded a volume of Perkins’ work from a Web site.The investigation into this incident could end with Perkins’ termination. School officials said by the end of next week they planned to make a recommendation to the Board of Education as to what action to take next.White said Perkins has served as an assistant principal at South High School for two years. Prior to that, he was a teacher in the Springfield school system.A call to Perkins' residence requesting comment was not returned.
