Dozens Protest At A Springfield Applebee's

Posted: 9:49 am EDT March 23, 2008Updated: 3:00 pm EDT March 23, 2008

Dozens of people protested at a Springfield Applebee's on Saturday.

The group alleges racial discrimination, and said it wants to send a message.

The protesters said that a group of black teenagers were not served at the Applebee's in Springfield on February 9, 2007.

According to the group, they waited more than half an hour to be seated before being told to leave because "you people" didn't pay your bills in a previous visit.

The Ohio Civil Rights Commission voted unanimously to uphold a finding against the Applebee's restaurant in Springfield, saying it turned away a group of customers based on race.

The group of teens filed a lawsuit, with the support of the NAACP, family, and friends.
