SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- A dog attacked a mail carrier Thursday on Tibbetts Avenue in Springfield.

Police said the pit bull was chained up on the porch of the house when another dog started to bark, and that is when the pit bull attacked.

Police said neighbors across the street saw the attack and they hurried and got their first aid kit to help the mail carrier.

While medics treated the mail carrier, the Clark County Humane Society removed the pit bull from the house, police said.

The mail carrier is expected to be fine, and the dog’s owner will not be cited because the pit bull was chained up, police said.
