POSTED: 9:57 am EDT April 18, 2008

Jennifer Anderson
I work at the Red Roof Inn in Fairborn on third shift. I was on the computer in the office at 5:30 and it felt like someone was jiggling my chair and I saw the computer monitor shake. It only happened for less than a minute. I always hear strange noises here at night and jokingly refer to it as ghosts. Thankfully I now know that I wasn’t visited by a ghost this morning.

Allison Williams
I live in Springfield ,Ohio and I was awakened by the earthquake we had this morning at 5:37. My house is not made the best and is not on the ground so it shook pretty good. I was in bed and the whole bed was like someone was standing at the end of it shaking it to wake me up and when I looked up and my husband wasn't standing there I knew we were having and aftershock from an earthquake or that I was going crazy. After the big shake it just kind of moved a little like a washing machine was on but all I could do was look around and wonder what was going on but I just wanted to share my story since I am one of the few that felt it.

James Taylor
I really did not feel the quake, but it did awake us by rattling some glass trinkets that we had setting on a shelf above a dresser.

Joanna Pittenger
Good morning. My name is Joanna Pittenger, I am Chief of Emergency Medical Services in Lakeview, OH, located in Logan County. We felt the earthquake this morning at our station located at 301 N. Oak St. It was 5:40 AM and it lasted approx. 12 seconds.

Kathy Detwieler
Good morning to all. My name is Kathy Detwielr. I live in West Liberty and I felt the shaking this morning. I was lying in bed and thought it was someone trying to scare me but then turned on whio and found out about the earthquake!

Lori Jones:
I just wanted to add that I live in downtown Anna and also felt the aftershocks. Just after 5:30 a.m., the gentle shaking of my bed woke me up. I thought it was my six year old son. It happened several times and I finally yelled at him to stop shaking the bed and to get in with me. Needless to say, he never answered back. He was sleeping downstairs in the living room. I was in an upstairs bedroom. As soon as I came down this morning and heard the news, I knew then what the shaking was! It was really amazing. I was not surprised a bit, since Anna is located on an epicenter.

Christy In Arcanum
I live in Arcanum, and the tremor woke me up this morning. It was around 5:40, and I woke up because my bed was shaking pretty good, the windows were rattling, closet doors shaking, it lasted for about 30 to 45 seconds. It tapered down to where you could still feel it in the floor and then stopped all together.

Natalie Gruss
I am a freshman in high school at Coldwater Exempted Village Schools. I live north of Coldwater. My family felt the effects of the earthquake at around 5:30. It woke three out of four of us up. I thought I was either crazy, or having a dream when it happened. It felt like it lasted about one minute. When I woke up for the day, I told my dad about what I thought was a dream. He told me that it wasn't a dream. My dad also said that he thought he was crazy until he turned on the news.

The earthquake caused my whole house to shake. The items on my shelves were rattling, and some empty wire hangers on my door handle made quite a racket also. My dad and I were relieved to hear we weren't crazy when we started listening to your news broadcast.

Ron Nichwitz
I work 3rd shift in the dairy department at the Wal Mart in Greenville,Ohio. Sometime around 5:30 am when I was stocking the eggs I noticed that the top shelf was vibrating so badly that the eggs were about to fall off! I had to push them back to stabalize them. About 5 minutes later one of our pop vendors told me his wife just called him to tell him there was an earthquake. She was awakened by the dresser handles rattling and the dog barking.

Ryan Dobie
My name is Ryan Dobie. I am a resident of Springfield, Ohio and student at Kenton Ridge HS. I have been watching the breaking news on your newscast all morning, and it seems that I felt the quake as well as anyone. I was lying down in bed, and I noticed the house quaking back in forth quite quickly for 10-15 seconds. I really got my attention because I have medals hanging on my dresser, and they were actually swaying back and forth into each other. I ran to my dad because I thought it was indeed an earthquake, and possibly a strong one. Sure enough, your newscast proved me correct.

Barri Manning
I live in Bellefontaine, Ohio and I heard that dishes in my hutch rattling and tried to stop them and they continued to rattle. So, I believe that we have felt the tremor here as well. I haven't felt or heard anything here like that since in the 1970's when we had a tremor.
