COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Hundreds of supporters of the payday lending industry, including some here in the Miami Valley traveled to Columbus Tuesday to protest a proposed crackdown.Lenders argue that their industry can’t survive on the proposed 28 percent APR. They said it would cause those businesses to shut down and to the employees and customers who rely on these companies. Many consumers and advocates for the poor said it is a good thing for the state to limit the amount of interest charged by these lending companies. People within the industry said no, it would not be a good thing to do.The Ohio House has already passed the bill but now it is going to the Senate for their decision.:
