MIAMI VALLEY -- Gas prices around the Miami Valley jumped Wednesday morning to a new record high of $3.79 a gallon.

Many drivers said they were suprised by the new prices. Gas on Tuesday was under $3.50 a gallon at most local gas stations.

On Tuesday, oil prices reached a new high of $122 a barrel. About a year ago, oil prices were at $62 a barrel.
