Construction Crews Hit Gas Line In Downtown Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- A main road through the city of Springfield was shut down Thursday morning after construction crews hit a gas line.The incident happened around 9:30 a.m. on South Fountain Avenue between Columbia and Main streets.Officials said crews are installing fiber optic lines, but their equipment cut through a one-inch plastic service line.Columbia gas crews responded and had the line capped off in 45 minutes. At this time, South Fountain Street is open to traffic.
