The fire happened in the 1800 block of Sweetbriar Lane around 12:30 a.m. Friday. People who live in the neighborhood said the flames were out of control before firefighters arrived at the scene.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and found flames coming out of the home and melting the siding of the home next door.

Fire officials said the flames moved upstairs and all the way across the other side of the home, burning for 45 minutes before firefighters could control them.

Once inside, firefighters found a young woman, believed to be in her 20s. Officials said the woman had one child between a year and two years old. Investigators said the woman also cared for another child who is about 6 years old.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
