Pets Of The Week -- May 9, 2008 (Courtesy Of SICSA)
Many animals in shelters are purebred dogs; here are three purebred dogs we have at SICSA. You can see more animals on our website at www.sicsa.orgCocoa
Australian Shepherd pulled from another shelter due to lack of space. PREVIOUS HOME: Unknown PERSONALITY: Coca is an active, young herding dog. He is friendly with people and appears friendly with other dogs. His history with cats and children are unknown. Cocoa is very high energy and is working on his manners at this time. BEST MATCH FOR A HOME: Cocoa would do best in an aussie savvy home. Training classes are highly recommended due to his age, breed and activity level.Smokey
Alaskan Malamute was acquired from a pet store as a puppy and surrendered because the owner is moving to a location that does not allow dogs. PREVIOUS HOME: Lived with a family with two small children as an only pet. PERSONALITY: Smoky is a laid back, gentle boy who is active for his age and likes to nap on the couch. He likes other dogs he has met on a walk. He does chase cats but only in a playful manner according to his previous owner. BEST MATCH FOR A HOME: Smoky would do best in a laid back adult home willing to provide sufficient daily exercise and allow couch privileges!Chaucer
English springer spaniel was acquired at a pet store at the age of 4 months. Surrendered at 10 months because the owner didn't have time for him. PREVIOUS HOME: Chaucer lived as an only pet with a single woman. He was reported to be housetrained and crate trained by his former owner. PERSONALITY: Chaucer is an ACTIVE boy, typical of the Springer breed. He is friendly and happy with all he has met at SICSA. He greets unfamiliar people low and waggy but jumps on familiar people. He has not been around other dogs, cats or small children. BEST MATCH FOR A HOME: Chaucer would do best in a home that is willing to commit to sufficient DAILY exercise to keep him from getting into trouble. This is NOT a 'walk around the block' kind of dog. He needs daily interactive exercise such as hiking, jogging, swimming and fetch etc.
