GREENE COUNTY, Ohio -- Animal control officers rescued nearly a dozen dogs that were living in filth on a farm off U.S. 42 in Spring Valley Township.Officers called it a sad situation, and one they are seeing too often these days. They said at one time, it was a wonderful dog breeding farm, but the property went into foreclosure and the owner could no longer take care of the dogs. That former owner, Barbara Spisak, was cited for animal neglect and signed the dogs over to animal control officers. Many of the American Water Spaniels are now up for adoption. However, 6 puppies will stay with their Mother in a foster home for the time being.Dr. Harold Brown, the veterinarian who's been taking care of the dogs, said he hopes all 11 dogs will end up in good homes. If you are interested in either fostering or adopting one of the dogs, you can call the Greene County Animal Control Office at 562-7400.
