CLARK COUNTY, Ohio -- A Clark County woman received a notice that an important court date was rescheduled and sheriff’s investigators said that the document was fake.

A Springfield man faces charges for allegedly forging those papers, police said.

US Marshals arrested Ricky Smith of Springfield on Friday in connection with this incident, police said.

The sheriff’s office said the alleged fake documents caused a person Smith knew to miss her court date and dismissing a protection order against him.

Smith remains in the Clark County Jail.
