DAYTON, Ohio -- The Dayton chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Coalition is boycotting a Dayton gas station as part of a national rolling boycott against the escalating gas prices across the country.Nationally, boycotts took place at noon on Thursday in several cities. The national effort targets the top five oil companies, boycotting them until the national organization marches on Washington, D.C., on Aug. 28 to mark the anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s first march on Washington, D.C. in 1963.The local boycott took place at the Shell Station at the corner of Third Street and Gettysburg Avenue. The SCLC is asking all civil rights organizations, unions, faith-based and community organizations to join the effort to express dissatisfaction with oil companies and government officials who are allowing the gas prices to affect American citizens. In the future, the boycott will affect Exxon, BP, Chevron and Phillips 66.
