Fairborn Teacher Injured Trying To Break Up Fight

A teacher tried to break up a fight at Fairborn High School and ended up being injured.

Nearly 1,200 teenagers attend Fairborn High School and with that many personalities in one building, News Center 7’s Gabrielle Enright was told that students do disagree.

Helen Henderson said one fight occurred in sixth period, one occurred before seventh period and a third fight broke out during seventh period.

Henderson said one of the three fights Thursday was bad enough to bring Fairborn police to the school.

Officers arrested a 16-year-old junior. They said the teen beat up a 15-year-old sophomore in the hallway.

William Hart, who is a student at the school, said, “I heard someone talking about someone’s girlfriend.”

Sgt. Mark Stannard said that a teacher was punched in the head as she tried to break up the fight.

Officials said the teacher was injured, but she did not want to go to the hospital. They said the 15-year-old was taken to a local hospital as he suffered from facial injuries.

Police said the 16-year-old is facing a charge of delinquency.

The superintendent said both students will likely be suspended for the rest of the school year and the face expulsion.
