Deputies: Early-Morning Crash Leaves 1 Dead

Authorities in Preble County said Route 503 near Lewisburg was shut down early Tuesday morning as a result of a fatal crash.

Deputies said someone driving north on Route 503 spotted a van in a ditch around 4 a.m. According to investigators, Kimberly S. Bowling, 46, of Lewisburg, was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators said Bowling was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.

Deputies said they believe Bowling lost control, rolled several times and then hit a tree. They are not sure how long the woman had been there before the other driver spotted the crash scene.

Bowling was taken to the Montgomery County Coroner's Office in Dayton for an autospy. Investigators are waiting on toxicology reports before making a final determination if alcohol was a factor in the crash.

This is the third traffic fatality in Preble County this year.
