A Montgomery County grand jury has indicted a man on charges of illegal storage of hazardous waste and open dumping.

According to investigators with the Ohio Attorney General's Office, Robert Garcia, 21, dumped hundreds of gallons of paint and paint- related products in four Dayton neighborhoods between 2006 and 2007.

Investigators said Garcia was paid to properly dispose of the products that were taken from inside foreclosed homes. Instead, authorities said he dumped the waste in the areas of Richard Street, Clover Street, Linden Avenue and twice on Lucille Drive.

Investigators said some of the paint supplies were found to be ignitable hazardous waste.

Those with the Ohio Attorney General's Office told News Center 7 that authorities conducted more than 30 interviews on this case and eventually tracked the paint cans back to Garcia.

If convicted, officials said Garcia could go to jail for up to eight years and face a $25,000 fine.

Investigators said all the waste was cleaned up, and none of it seeped into any waterways.

Attempts to contact Garcia were unsuccessful Sunday night.
